Hello everyone. I would like to introduce myself in the hope that I can be of use to people here. I am a database programmer who has done work for various organisations of all sizes. What does that mean? Databases are stores of data (boring so far), but serve as the basis of supplying information in whichever format you want it. Databases can be the source of planning systems, maintenance systems, customer records, stock systems and many other systems.
My speciality is serving the needs of small to medium-sized organisations (both commercial and voluntary). Systems I have created (or done major changes to) include the following:
- Production-reporting system (for a major agrochemical company).
- Manhours, downtime and production reporting and analysis.
- Stock-control system.
- Health, safety and environment non-conformance reporting and analysis system.
- Production planning system.
- Maintenance recording system.
- Safe Work System auditting.
- Safety audit system.
- Document-control system.
The above systems include integrating with e-mail systems, spreadsheets, paper outputs, automated prompting of actions to be carried out and the like. If you are thinking of having such a system for your organisation, do please contact me via e-mail (mail@pdtl.co.uk) or phone (0845 4160502).
For the techies among you, I use mainly Microsoft Access and/or SQL Server. I am the Eastern Region co-ordinator for the UK Access User Group.
