management of waste disposal in norfolk and effects on our region and the environment

recently there has been lots of debate and speculation with regards to an incenirator being located in our region positioned in an already established commercial area of norwich,

in my personal oppinion i think that this incenirator would benefit the area and potentialy reduce the cost of waste disposal charges to companies and the public in our region.

the cost for landfill is increasing and the available sites are now becoming very limited, with very little incentive and restricted amounts of waste to recycling centres with no financial support from the government, the only way forward for the disposal of waste is to burn it under controlled measures.

the companies that recycle waste with full compliance to the law and environment agency regulations work on a small margin or loss and suggest that the environment agency spend more time in enforcement of illegal fly tipping and unlicensed waste companies and skip hire companies then maybe then can our region move in the direction of a safer cleaner and more importantly environmentaly friendly area.

i would like feedback and views on what others feel about the above observations i have made and value any input.

adam mulley.

help us to help our environment and recycle your waste..

Re: management of waste disposal in norfolk and effects on our region and the environment
I quite agree that an incinerator is a highly desirable solution, particularly if linked to energy generation. These technologies are now clean and safe, and divert waste from dangerous and polluting landfill. The objectors are either ill-informed (should the County Council not be trying to educate people?) or too narrow minded to be able to make rational decisions. Could the detractors please offer other, practical solutions rather than just moaning. By the way, I live near the proposed site at Costessey.
