2008 ‘Built in Quality Awards’ launch follows local success at national level
The Local Authority Building Control (LABC) East Anglian Region has launched the call for entries into the regional 2008 Built in Quality Awards.
The annual awards recognise and reward the most forward-looking people and organisations, and the most innovative construction projects completed over the previous year.
Regional finalists are entered for the National Awards where, in 2007, the East Anglia Region had short-listed entries in all eleven categories. Norwich’s Dragon Hall won Best Access/Disability Innovation Award and Adnams’ Distribution Centre came away with a Highly Commended in the Best Sustainability Innovation category.
Launching the 2008 East Anglian Region Awards, Regional Chairman Nick Seaton, commented, “The LABC Regional Built in Quality Awards are dedicated to showcasing the best the construction industry has to offer in East Anglia. To win one of these awards, even to be identified as a finalist will be of enormous marketing value for the organisations taking part.”
One local firm, Lucas Hickman Smith Architects were finalists in three categories for the Eastern Region and in two for the National finals, one of which, ‘Best Access/Disability Innovation’, they won. Director Terry Hickman Smith said they were delighted to have entered the 2007 LABC Awards for their work at Dragon Hall, Norwich: “The Awards were the culmination of much work with CNC Building Control Consultancy and have given the Practice a considerable and welcome amount of positive publicity for our work in general, and in particular for the architectural work to the magnificent Grade I Listed Building, Dragon Hall in Norwich’.
The local Awards, which are free to enter and open to all building owners, architects, engineers, contractors and surveyors who have worked with a Local Authority Building Control Department, will be held in April 2008.
Closing date for entries is the 1st February 2008.
