The former Lord Mayor of the City of London, Sir Michael Savory has praised the “energy and enterprise” of East Anglian companies. Speaking at the 18th EDP Business Awards on Friday night, Sir Michael said the region was alive with successful firms.

Norwich shoe company Start-rite celebrated its rebirth as a company when it was named EDP Barclays Business of the Year.

The winners of the EDP Business Awards 2007 represented the very best in the region's business community. Companies large and small, new and old, were named winners in the ten different categories.

The Design and Development Award, sponsored by Bidwells, was picked up by Yarmouth Stadium. The building of a new stand at the stadium incorporating the Raceview Restaurant has “brought a whole new dimension to the greyhound racing experience”.
